Modcards banned UK

Post by MrAndini » Sat Aug 07, 2010 2:51 am

Hello

I read recently that Modchips have been banned in the UK.
I also read they are legal in Italy.

I only use my card for homebrew, but can understand why Nintendo pursue the sellers.
When I recently bought some DSTT they came preloaded with games which I formatted away.

Is there any definitive site that tells me where the cards such as DSTT are banned / legal?
What is the case in France, germany, Australia?

As I say I only use my cards for homebrew and have a legit application for it.
Pity Nintendo doesn't work like Iphone apps and such where you can actually develop for their platform at a reasonable cost.

Thanks if anyone can help

Wow, they actually have a ban on modcards in the UK now? If so, this must suck for WinterMute... I guess he's just gonna have to move to Italy now

Actually I heard that they got banned in Italy as well :/

There's a case in progress in Germany so no word on that yet.

Australia I think they're banned, not 100% sure.

Unfortunately there's no definitive site, all we can do is keep an eye on press releases.

Well, I guess my plans on using libnds as an educational tool for my senior design project are pretty much scrapped... By the time I get to senior year, the cards will probably be illegal in the U.S. as well!

Oh well, it's still a fun platform to learn on
