Re: Error compiling Examples

Unfortunately that guide isn't particularly good - I'm actually not particularly happy with many of the guides and tutorials which relate to devkitPro toolchains. There's a much better guide in the user contributions section @ http://forums.devkitpro.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=68 which should help a b...

Re: Error compiling Examples

Never seen anything remotely resembling this one, sorry.

How did you install devkitPPC?

Re: Problem compiling HelloWorld

This one is normally caused by having DOS style paths in the devkitPro environment variables. The standard settings are

Code: Select all

DEVKITPRO=/c/devkitPro
DEVKITPPC=/c/devkitPro/devkitPPC
Note the msys style paths, forward slashes and /<drive>/ instead of <drive>:\

Re: Stuck on compiling the example

I'm really not sure that will work. The version of msys supplied by the devkitPro installer is a candidate build with some tweaks for Vista compatibility - some of the components, including make, are not available individually. The primary cause of the problem you describe is a version of make which...

Re: Stuck on compiling the example

The make version supplied by the devkitPro windows installer is 3.81, chances are you have cygwin in your path before msys.

We generally recommend that you don't use cygwin at all since those tools are incompatible with the devkitPro toolchains.

Re: Make Errors

The template projects expect the source code to be in the source directory, laid out in exactly the same way as the supplied examples.

Your problem is placing the source files somewhere that make can't see them thus trying to link object files with no main function.

Re: Compiling SDL-Port from CVS

Yes I've seen the ports, they're an absolute mess & will not be supported by devkitPro. I seriously regret committing that mess to CVS now. There are serious issues with the way those ports are put together. I have an SDL test framework written which corrects some of the issues but I could do with s...

Re: Charmed Labs Xport with devkitARM?

The changes they made for devkitAdvance are pretty specific to that toolchain and unfortunately it's not possible to just take their changes and apply them to devkitARM. Some parts of their patching just aren't applicable to our toolchain and others need to be completely rewritten. A couple of years...
