Re: .dol vs .elf?

dol files are the pure binary native executable format of both the Wii and the Gamecube. ELF files are the format output by the linker which contain debugging information, dol files are created from the elf files. The dol format is the preferred and recommended format for distribution. SD card file ...

Re: buildscripts-20080516 problems

Then there's some problem with how you set up the prerequisites, the scripts work fine for me on pretty much every system I've tried them on. There's not really a lot I can do about this unfortunately, I'm at a loss to even come up with a question that might help diagnose your issue. This thread may...

Re: target sim, where does output go?

I'll have a look at this soon, this is because devkitARM is built with --disable-newlib-supplied-syscalls and uses a pseudo device API to connect up output & storage devices. The current default stdio hooks in libsysbase are null devices so I might take a look at using a different default libgloss l...

Re: buildscripts-20080516 problems

Ubuntu 8.04 for amd64 Debian 4.0 for the 32bit builds The old make 3.81 problem was resolved by newlib 1.16.0 I really did nothing special for either system, I just followed my own directions in the readme supplied with the buildscripts & a toolchain popped out the other end. The last buildscripts r...

Re: buildscripts-20080516 problems

I'll try the binary distribution on both platforms, but then, I suppose, I need to compile libgba and libnds by hand (since the binary distributions don't come with these packages, right?) Not necessarily, you can grab the binary tarballs of those packages as well, see http://wiki.devkitpro.org/ind...

Your versions of mpfr & newlib?

I imagine that's your problem really. Is there some reason you can't use the binary distribution?

Re: buildscripts-20080516 problems

Wait for the next set of buildscripts, that set was mainly intended for devkitARM and wasn't tested with devkitPPC. We're putting the final touches on libogc right now, hopefully it won't be much longer. In the meantime either changing the gdb version in the release scripts or grabbing the gdb 6.8 p...

Re: detecting EDTV mode

Here is the problem I am talking about, this is definitively not a problem with overscan and 50hz resolution, seems rather a video timing problem (note that this happened in menu also): Aha, no, that's most definitely not a resolution thing. I had exactly that problem with something a few weeks ago...

Re: detecting EDTV mode

I'm pretty sure that TVMpal480IntDf does not work properly on PAL machines (I remember some people complaining about an horizontal black bar when we were using this mode in emulators) That would tend to indicate a problem with the emulators, the mode works perfectly well on PAL machines, provided y...

Re: Binutils changes

It would appear that the interworking is now handled in a different manner. I've noticed that bl instructions are transformed to blx for armv5 code, haven't really investigated what happens with arm7 yet other than to verify binaries do in fact work when thumb & arm code is mixed.
