How to create images usable by bmp2bin

Post by Quargzon » Sat Jul 09, 2011 9:17 pm

I have used pcx images for my textures since I started because I cannot figure out how to create images that can be converted to .bin's with bmp2bin. I've saved .bmp files with several different formats from GIMP and bmp2bin always tells me either "unsupported compression type" or "unsupported bit type (or something)". What program should be used to make the source images, and what parameters should be used in bmp2bin?

i wasnt able to find a single bmp that _doesnt_ work. you ought to share a broken bmp file for analysis (i am unlikely to get excited enough about this to go download the gimp). of course, i suspect you could use anything other than gimp to avoid the problem. I can tell you that tool doesnt support RLE images, so make sure youre not saving the file with RLE enabled (if youre not sure, just check if the filesize is roughly equal to the expected raw size)
