question about MicroSD Wi-FI

Post by draken » Sun Feb 21, 2010 8:34 pm

Hey all,

I am not sure is this is the best place to post, but I wanted to ask if R4 or any other
device for the DS supports the use of a MiniSD Wi-FI card?

like this one :
http://www.amazon.com/Spectec-MiniSD-80 ... _sim_cps_3

I only want to use it to copy .nds files and then use the shell to execute them, not during runtime from my code

thank you

Most carts use microSD not miniSD (next cart size down).

I know that if a company makes a microSD WiFi enabled card I'll be buying it....

I'm actually thinking of getting one of the SD WiFi cards for my DSi, just wish I had one when I was doing my FlipNote hacking...

And from the looks of the spec of that card, it's got no storage as it's only a wifi card, not a storage card

sorry posted wrong link

here is the one

http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/100 ... n_802.html

this one has no storage though either, so I guess nowhere to run the shell from , unless you can set it up to run
all from the wifi (so it's whole file system runs from a "host" pc transparently for R4)

[edit] oh but it seems that no company has released one already , sigh... [/edit]

From the looks of it, cards like this have been around since about 2006 (according to a google search for microsd wifi) but none of them have any storage space, this could be down to the limited space in the actualy card itself.

It would be nice if it did have some space in there. Oh and as for using it to interface directly with a PC for it's data instead of as a storage card, the current crop of wifi enabled microSD cards need windows to work...
