Examples license isn't valid?

Post by blitzdoughnuts » Mon Mar 17, 2025 11:20 pm

Hello peeps! I want to note something that's bothered me ever since I began tinkering with devkitpro's libraries. Most of the example repositories provided are unlicensed, and the 3DS's in particular has the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark, which isn't actually a license and instead a mark for things already in the public domain. This concerns me because of the nature of the examples encouraging remixing and studying, but without the legal stance of a free software license it would be questionable to do so, especially in a project released under such a license.

I tried going to GitHub and making an issue about this, but it wouldn't let me for some reason, so I'm saying this here to see how you guys feel about this problem. And also, for a replacement license I would suggest Creative Commons Zero, a license that actually puts something into the public domain proper.
