GC compiling error

When i do the make command it gives me this error:

mkdir: cannot create directory ‘build’: Permission denied
make: *** [Makefile:100: build] Error 1

i am on windows subsystem for linux.

You can't build the examples in place, that whole folder is read-only. Copy examples somewhere writeable before trying to compile.
