Adding Wiimote pair functionality to libogc

Post by Zarithya » Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:42 am

Hi all, spent a day or two working on getting Wiimote pair functionality into libogc so I can pair Wiimotes from within homebrew just like anywhere else on the Wii. I'm really close with the (hacky) implementation I have so far (sync button event bubbles up to wpad, which does a Bluetooth inquiry, finds all Wiimotes, and registers them with wiiuse), and so far the only major stumbling block I'm having (aside from the temporary and hacky nature of half of what I've written) is figuring out how to get a Wiimote to connect right after a pair. Right now, when it pairs, the remote keeps blinking the LEDs and doesn't actually connect, but once it turns on again, wpad does recognize it and allow it to connect. I'm probably just missing some step that's needed in the Wiimote initialization.

I'd love to get help on how to get this over the finish line and hopefully integrated as a standard part of libogc!
