I couldnt see the edit button so I double posted.

There is a tutorial here:
http://static.patater.com/files/project ... #id2612791

but it doesnt say what command line options to use with grit,
there are a lot of different options which is overwhelming

There doesnt seem to be a tutorial that combines
1 converting images
2.loading tiles
3.drawing backgrounds with tiles

that works.

The patater tutorial only shows how to draw a single bitmap in the background which isnt useful for big environments. The other tutorial doesnt compile.

sorry if this is a silly question, but you did not include your source code. so...

did you manually add the #include lines for the header files generated by grit? if you are using the standard templates then the generated files should be in the build directory - you can make sure they are being generated and that you are using the correct file names. also, it is not entirely clear if the error you are referring to is being generated by the compiler or the linker.

I tried to compile this project:
http://www.liranuna.com/wordpress/wp-co ... esson2.zip

simply use make on the zipped folder (after unzipping of course)

It uses a different image convertor called gfx2gba.

I also tried out the pern map editor but it doesnt allow the programmer to create a roguelike for example, I need more control than what a simple map editing tool can offer.
